It's not all about the financials

Ascot Associates Ltd [my company] was invited to work with a high profile UK company to align the senior staff with the future vision and strategy.

The process involved two proprietary analyses which mapped each senior member's profile to the strategic vision, identified their personal development needs and listed the specific actions needed to achieve the strategic goal.

The project improved efficiency, prevented a potentially significant loss of business continuity, and paved the way for greater empowerment at all levels.

The Creation

In the beginning there were The Assumptions, The Projections and The Targets

And The Assumptions were without form, and The projections were without foundation and The Targets were without substance

And it was known as The Policy

And The Policy was presented to The Workers

And a darkness came upon the face of The Workers who spake unto their Group Heads and sayeth "It is a crock of shite and it stinketh"

And The Group Heads went unto The Section Heads and sayeth "It is a pail of dung and none may abide the odour thereof"

And The Section Heads went unto their Managers and sayeth unto them "It is a container of excrement, such that none may abide its strength"

And The Managers went unto their Director and sayeth "It is a vessel of manure and is very strong"

And The Director went to the Board of Directors and sayeth "It containeth that which promotes growth and is very strong"

And The Board of Directors went to The Cabinet Committee and sayeth "It promoteth development, and is very powerful "

And The Cabinet Committee went unto The Chief Panjandrum and sayeth "This powerful new Policy will actively promote the development and efficacy of The Operation - and your relationship with The Populus in particular"

And The Chief Panjandrum looked upon The Policy and saw that it was good

Thus The Policy became The Manifesto

Thanks be to The Administrators

Become more profitable

Deliver a week’s consultancy in less than two days.

As a consultant I am finding client time increasingly precious and so I have recently launched a new diagnostic tool designed specifically for consultants which delivers about a week of consultancy in less than two days to benefit both the client and the consultant. It is designated the Business Income Optimiser [BIO]

The system is designed for use inside an organisation to evaluate where too many resources are being deployed and where resources are in short supply. The on-screen inputs are fed back to the server for on-line analysis and the outputs readily identify suitable consultancy programmes – programmes which the clients themselves have identified as important.

The 'BIOscan' programme, which is available through my website, uses on-line analysis coupled to an automated report writing programme. The report summarises the client business in up to 2,500 words and provides management action grids which resemble those used in the balanced scorecard but with added elements to allow closer monitoring of the subsequent consultancy.

Each user has a personal home page and, to encourage usage, is pre-credited with two applications. The first application may be used to test the system and the second application used with a paying client. Subsequent applications can be paid for using the revenue from previous client work.

BIOSCAN can be accessed through http://ascot-interactive.com/cgi-bin/vpage.cgi?register using Internet Explorer and opening a personal home page.

The programme has been developed over more then ten years, with hundreds of organisations from many different sectors contributing to the final model. As always I welcome new users and also feedback and comments.
